China's woodworking machinery output reaches RMB 68 billion, exports up 12%

Chinese woodworking machinery output reached roughly RMB 68 billion in 2025 while exports grew about 12% year on year, as domestic builders moved up the automation ladder.

China's woodworking machinery sector reported output of approximately RMB 68 billion in 2025, with exports growing about 12% year on year. The figures underline the country's position as both the largest production base and the largest exporter of panel-processing equipment.

The growth is no longer purely volume-driven. Chinese manufacturers have moved up the specification ladder: full-servo edge banders, high-speed CNC nesting centres with automatic loading and unloading, and multiple blade saws with servo positioning are now standard offerings rather than premium options.

Export destinations have also broadened. Alongside traditional markets in Southeast Asia and the Middle East, Chinese machine builders are winning projects in Eastern Europe, Latin America and Africa — often on a price-plus-service proposition rather than price alone.

Certification has become a gatekeeping factor. FSC, CARB/EPA, JAS and EUDR-related compliance documentation is increasingly requested by importers, and suppliers who can supply complete documentation packages upfront have a measurable advantage in tender processes.

For the global market, the effect is structural: competition in the mid-range panel-processing segment is intensifying, and buyers in Europe and North America face more credible alternatives to established Western brands than a decade ago.
